Talks

Discussing faith, art and queerness with Jay Hulme

Culturitical talked to poet and performer Jay Hulme about art and education, as well as about the relation between religion and queer/trans* identities.

"Cathedrals are trans, trans people are cathedrals, and amidst it all God reaches out to meet us exactly where we are." Jay Hulme is an award-winning transgender poet, speaker and theologian. His engagement with Christianity has allowed him insights both in his writing and into the inner workings of the churches themselves, up to and including the views from their steeples. He writes about faith and identity intertwined in conflict and healing, a complicated and often fraught topic in an equally complicated and fraught time.
